Yuuka, Grim, Riddle and Cater find Ruggie in the classroom and confront him with their suspicions of injuring the Magift tournament players. Riddle demands answers from Ruggie, and Cater suggests they take their conversation outside with a menacing glance toward him. Ruggie agrees to hear them out as long as they quit with the threats.

Outside of the classroom, Riddle thinks about how dangerous Ruggie's signature spell is, and he considers using his own in order to prevent him from using it again. Ruggie picks up on this and points out that Riddle needs his magic pen to do so, causing Riddle and Cater to notice their magic pens are missing. Ruggies reveals that he secretly stole them without notice, and Grim demands to know how he did it. Ruggie responds by saying that it was a cinch to do without magic. Then he makes a quick getaway with them. Riddle attempts to use his signature spell anyway, but Cater restrains him by reminding him that he is still recovering from overblot. Riddle angrily demands Cater let him go as Ruggie runs past Ace and Deuce, who are discussing their pink clothing for feeding the flamingo. Ace teases Deuce over his hot pink leopard print, but Deuce states that it was all he had. Cater greets the boys and Riddle breaks free from his clutches, demanding that they stop Ruggie from stealing their magic pens. He threatens them with swift punishment if they don't do it and Ace complains that it doesn't involve them.

Yuuka persuades him and Deuce that if they caught Ruggie, they might be able to get added to the Magift roster. This instantly causes them to change their tune and they, along with Grim and Yuuka chase after Ruggie. They manage to corner him and he catches them off-guard by jumping outside, revealing his parkour skill to the group as he safely leaps from place to place and lands in a tree. He mocks them realizing they are exhausted by the time they reach him, and tells them that without evidence there's no reason to catch him. Yuuka responds by calling him a coward, but he takes those words as a compliment. Before he leaves, he advises them to have some evidence next time, but there will not be a next time since it's them. He casually tosses Riddle and Cater's magic pens on the grass and leaves. Yuuka is left wondering what he means.

It's then Jack spots them, and he remarks on their pursuit of the culprit. Ace demands Jack help them and complains over how nasty his upperclassman is. Jack asks them why they are fighting so hard for people they don't know. He would understand if they wanted to seek revenge for a friend getting hurt, but this just seems so random. The group is left momentarily speechless until Ace corrects Jack. They're not just trying to help random people. Deuce explains their reason for catching the culprit was to make themselves look good, and Ace finishes for him, saying that they might be able to join the Magift roster and show-off to the world. Grim's reason for catching "that guy" was to join and get on TV, and Yuuka plainly explains that the headmaster promised to let Ramshackle in the tournament if they solve the case. Jack mocks them by saying that he figured he couldn't trust people who would just help out strangers, but they are worse than he thought- but he appears amused. Ace counters by saying he's worse since he knew Ruggie was the culprit. Grim felt annoyed that Jack knew that Ruggie wouldn't go after him because he was from the same dorm, and he called him a coward like Ruggie. Jack is offended by this and Yuuka tells him that they want to solve the case and fight Savanclaw fair and square, so she asks that he tell them what he knows. He agrees, on one condition. They must fight him.

The group is stunned, until Ace asks Jack why he wants to fight them. He reasons that if they're gonna talk man to man, their fists must start things off and prove to him that they aren't just all talk. Ace and Grim refuse to fight Jack in a fistfight, and Deuce volunteers to fight him instead. Yuuka doesn't mind fighting Jack, either. Ace and Grim react with surprise, and before the their fistfight begins, Jack warns them he won't go easy on them. Deuce and Yuuka assure him that they wouldn't want him to. Yuuka ends the fight by judo-flipping Jack despite her height. By this point, Jack and Deuce are exhausted but Yuuka feels fine, and the guys shake hands in exchange for the great fistfight they had. Afterward, Jack decides to tell them what he knows about his dorm. Ace asks him what he meant by "that settles it" and Jack says his heart tells him what is right and wrong; he will betray his dorm. He reveals Ruggie was the one behind the accidents. Ace asks how he never leaves behind evidence, with Yuuka guessing that it's probably his unique magic. Jack confirms, and explains how Ruggie's Unique Magic makes his target move as he does. He made it look like everything was the fault of his targets and orchestrated those accidents. When Ace recalls Ruggie's forced-trade with Grim, Grim gets frustrated again. Deuce asks Jack if it's a special kind of spell, because he still needs to be close enough for the spell to reach. If Ruggie started acting like he was falling down some stairs near a target, someone would surely be suspicious. Jack informs him that Ruggie isn't the only one behind the accidents, most of the guys from Savanaclaw are in on it. They help with the deception by making a wall around Ruggie so he doesn't stand out, and the person orchestrating it all is Leona.

Ace comments that how well Savanaclaw members play and rank at the Magift tournament will reflect on their entire future. Jack, completely offended that his dorn is willing to use cheap, cowardly tricks to win, tells Ace that the future is decided by how they forge their strength. No matter how strong the opponent might be, he wanted to fight through and advance to the very top using nothing but his power. Deuce and Yuuk admire his aspirations, while Ace and Grim are disturbed by his attitude. Jack doesn't like how the guys in his dorm are involved, but it's even worse knowing Leona was involved. He knows Leona has amazing power inside of him, but he won't try. He hates that kind of person the most. He reveals his past to Ace, Deuce, Grim and Yuuka, describing how Leona inspired him three years ago and how he wanted to become strong like him. That's how he got sorted into Savanaclaw dorm and got to meet his idol. He thought they would work hard together, improving and honing their powers. But that didn't happen. Ace and Decuce realize that Jack respects Leona. Jack goes on to reveal his dorm's primary goal is Diasomnia's dorm leader, Malleus Draconia, since he and his dorm were responsible for their loss two years in a row. Jack guessed the upperclassmen were out for revenge in the most cowardly way possible. They're planning to make a move against Diamsomnia on the tournament day. But he will stop them.

With that settled the group attempt to devise a plan to stop Savanaclaw despite being short on time. Riddle and Cater are willing to help them too, with Riddle refusing to allow such an important tradition to be tarnished by personal grudges. When Cater asks Riddle if he has a plan, he says since they cannot condemn Ruggie or the others without proof and Leona is very sly. If they make accusations he'll dodge them easily, so they need to catch them at the crime scene. When Riddle continues to discuss the plan, Jack stops him since he has no intention of joining them. Deuce asks Jack if he has cold feet, but Jack reasons that because it's his dorm, he's going to settle it on his own. That's all there is to it. Yuuka stops him by asking if he thinks he can do anything by himself, then she suggests they join forces because he wants to stop Leona as much as they do. Jack reconsiders, agreeing to hear her out. But he warns her that if they come up with a cowardly strategy then he's out. Cater convinces Jack to trust Riddle since he is never cowardly. Riddle quickly deduces a plan and informs them of it, and Jack is pleased with the results. So he's going to cooperate with them. Ace asks Jack to be more open with them and Riddle decides to entrust Cater with the plan, going on to suddenly ask the first years about their bruises. Because of the information it yielded, he decides to overlook their flagrant violation of rule #6: "No fighting on campus." But the next time he catches them, it'll be off with all of their heads. They apologize to the Heartslabyul dorm leader and he takes off with Cater to return to their dorm. Before they depart, Yuuka tells them to brace themselves for the big day. She mentally swears that they will put a stop to this.

That evening, all of the Savanaclaw dorm members have gathered -except for Jack- to discuss their big plan for tomorrow. Leona heard that Ruggie was chased around by "Heartlabyul kids" today. He scolds him as he kept telling him to keep his guard up and calls Ruggie a moron. Ruggie assures that they don't have any evidence against him, so he shouldn't worry. Other than over the hefty price that was paid to get that "nasty cephalo-punk's" cooperation. Leona threatens him by reminding him what will happen if he makes all that go to waste. He also threatens the rest of the dorm members if they mess up on the big day, he'll fry them and eat them up himself. Ruggie and the other dorms are excited despite that, over the concept of battered Malleus Draconia. They kneel before Leona as he expresses how the whole world will applaud them for their efforts. They later praise their dorm leader, Leona, for making their dream come true, saying that everyone in Sunset Savanna is going to think about Leona, the one who's more fit to be king. Leona doesn't seem convinced as he murmurs to himself, "lineage and ability are two different things." Ruggie overhears him and expresses confusion, but Leona doesn't respond. He decides to go to bed and tells the others to scram.

After everyone returns to their rooms, Leona briefly remembers Ruggie's words and starts to think about his older brother before falling asleep. When he quietly tells himself that getting to the top of the school won't change anything, another drop of blot corrupts his magic gem pen further.

Meanwhile at the Octvinelle Dorm, Azul is shown preparing the potion that Leona requested him.
