Episode of Heartslabyul/Chapter 19

The nineteenth chapter of Disney Twisted Wonderland The Comic -Episode of Heartslabyul- was published in Monthly G Fantasy September 2022 issue on August 18th, 2022.

This chapter covers the fourth half of "A Unhinged Prefect" and the first half of "A Sad Little Child" (Episode 1 Chapter 24-25) from the game.

Summary

After Yuuken finally defeats Overbolt Riddle, Riddle reminisces about his childhood and recalls how he met Trey and Chenya.

Yuuken faces Overlot Riddle head-on. He mocks Yuuken by calling him a fool before questioning him about what a magicless louse like him hopes to achieve. Yuuken swiftly dodges his attacks due to his professional kendo skills. Ace, Deuce and Grim are impressed and confused by his strange moves. Yuuken deflects Overblot Riddle's blot spears and struck them all down with his kendo stick, leaving Trey and Cater to react in surprise. Yuuken tells Ace, Deuce and Grim this is a team match. At first, Ace is confused about what a "team match" is until he recalls the battle against Phantom miner. Both of them understand Yuuken and trust him to leave it to them. As Yuuken manages to break Overblot Riddle's blot spears he tells him one cannot fight with a clouded mind, the current him was the one who's lost sight himself. Riddle loses his temper and is getting impatient, and he demands to know why he just won't obey and asks him why he can't see that it is in his best interest to act in deference to his wishes. He summons a blotted heart sword in preparation to fight Yuuken. Yuuken blocks his first strike and manages to deliver the final blow to Riddle, striking him with the kendo stick. As Overblot Riddle falls, he up looks and sees a combined magic attack of Deuce's black caldron, Ace's wind with Grim's flames coming at him.

As he loses consciousness, he asks himself if he was wrong before calling out to his mother.

Eleven years ago Riddle was celebrating his eighth birthday. He thanks his mother for the low-sugar nutritional birthday cake she got, but he requests that she let him try a strawberry tart. His mother forbids it, reasoning that it's very unhealthy. She goes on to describe the dinner she prepared for him and warns him to only eat so much of it for his calorie intake. Despite his mother restricting what he eats, he can't stand up against her and simply obeys. Riddle thinks about his childhood, and describes the lovely tarts that he's seen before, with the bright red strawberries. They were on display in the window of a cake shop they occasionally pass by. He describes the strawberry tart as "shining bright like little jewels".

Before Riddle's mother leaves to do some errands, she instructs Riddle to read the first 50 pages of the philosophy of language text mentioned in the Magical Logic Lecture in preparation for tomorrow. She also reminds Riddle that he had an hour of independent study time before his potion lesson and Riddle happily obeys her. Every second of his days were filled to the brim with every subject imaginable. He studied as long as it took for him to understand the material, and when he didn't then his mother extended his study time. That was the "norm".

One day while studying, Riddle heard a knock at the window and approached, thinking it might be a bird. He was surprised to see a boy who introduced himself as Trey, and a young beastman named Chenya, who enjoys surprising people. Chenya asks Riddle to come to play croquet with them and he grabs something out of his pocket and tossed it at Riddle, flustering him as he realizes it was a cute little hedgehog. Chenya teases him by saying the hedgehog wants him to play too. Riddle hesitated to leave since it was independent study time and he needs to focus. Chenya and Trey manage to convince Riddle to play with them just for a little bit, and Riddle continues to think it over before reasoning it should be alright for a little bit. As they help him outside, Trey asks for Riddle's name, taking his extended hand as a sign of their new friendship.
