Episode of Heartslabyul/Chapter 17

The seventeenth chapter of Disney Twisted Wonderland The Comic -Episode of Heartslabyul- was published in Monthly G Fantasy July 2022 issue on June 17th, 2022.

This chapter covers the second half of "A Unhinged Prefect" (Episode 1 Chapter 24) from the game.

Summary

Dealing with the Overblot Riddle, Ace, Deuce and Grim decide to save him by defeating him with their magic. Trey wants to save Riddle and lends them a hand, along with an -unwilling- Cater, in hopes of stopping him before his magic completely runs out.

This chapter begins by looking back on Riddle's strict rule as the Dorm Leader. He disciplined his dorm members severely whenever they broke rules, even when they were minor. Riddle's cruel and ignorant behaviors resulted in the entire dorm turning against him, with the exception of Trey and Cater. Enraged and feeling betrayed, Riddle started overusing his Unique Magic to collar everyone. He failed to control his emotions.

Presently, Crowley manages to protect Ace and the others from Overblot riddle's attack. The rose garden has been destroyed and some of the students who were unable to escape are seriously injured. Trey tries to stop Riddle but he gets ignored once more, with Riddle stating that he is the one issuing orders. He uses his magic to throw more rose bushes at them and Crowley tries to summon another magical barrier once more. But this time they struggle to dodge and get injured. Overblot Riddle orders them to stand up and fight so that he may claim all of their heads. Crowley requests all students retreat to the mirror chamber while he tries to buy them time to escape. Cater tells the first years to go, but Ace, Deuce, Grim and Yuuken refuse to leave. They charge at Overblot Riddle by combining all of their magic but he easily cancels them out with the use of his Phantom. Cater is confused as to why they aren't leaving, and the guys reveal that they all have their reasons for staying there: Grim states it would be bad if Riddle caused more trouble, and Deuce admits that he wouldn't be able to live with himself if he left. Ace is determined to save Riddle because he owes him an apology. Trey is surprised by their responses, but he decides to fight alongside them, going on to calmly ask Crowley to focus on evacuating the others. He tells the guys to handle Riddle while he uses his unique magic to override Riddle's.

Enraged hearing this, Overblot Riddle begins to leak more blot from his head. Crowley and Cater try to convince them to leave because it is too dangerous to fight Riddle, but they stubbornly refuse to give up on him. Deuce thinks this is the easiest way to bring Riddle back to his senses, with Yuuken agreeing on the grounds that they won't stand a chance if they don't face their fears. Trey apologizes to Cater, because he can't lose Riddle here.

The scene shifts to years ago from Trey's perspective, recalling how he and Chenya met Riddle one day when they were children. Then he recalled the rainy day when he brought Riddle to his families bakery, and Riddle's mother caught them and demanded Trey's parents apologize for their son corrupting Riddle. Filled with guilt and fear, Riddle stood by his mother and clung to her as Trey looked on in shock.

Blot leaks from Riddle's eye and he expresses sadness momentarily, and Trey tells them that there is something he must say to Riddle. Yuuken asks Cater if he would really turn his back on his fellow dorm members to save himself. Initially, Cater hesitates to make a decision, but he gives up and decides to stay and help. Before Crowley leaves, he assures them that he will return once he's finished evacuating the other students. Overblot Riddle becomes angered again to see the others stand in defiance of him, and he violently swears that he will get all of their heads. He summons blot and transforms it into several card motif spears. The chapter ends with Overblot Riddle commanding them to attack the group.

• Riddle's mother is also visible in Trey's childhood flashback but her head is concealed. In the game, Riddle's mother only appears as a silhouette.
