Episode of Heartslabyul/Chapter 5

The fifth chapter of Disney Twisted Wonderland The Comic -Episode of Heartslabyul- was published in Monthly G Fantasy August 2021 issue on July 18th, 2021.

This chapter covers the second half of "An Endless Hunt", "A Lesson Learned" and the first part of "The Prologue Adjourned" (Prologue Chapters 18-20) from the game.

Summary

After Yuuken successfully mines a magestone, Grim ate a black stone that came from the Overblot miner and doesn't experience any ill side effects. Meanwhile, Ace and Deuce return to Heartslabyul to face their punishment. Yuuken and Grim are officially enrolled as one student by Crowley.

Yuuken and Grim went back to the mine and found the magestone for the headmaster. Before they can go, Grim attempts to snatch it from Yuuken, who is much too tall for him to reach. Feeling down, Grim smells something delicious and follows the trail to a black stone that came from the Overblot miner. He eats it and delightfully describes the taste, leading Yukken to comment that he's okay with Grim eating it as long as it doesn't hurt his stomach.

Meanwhile in the Heartslabyul dormitory, Ace and Deuce face their punishment in court feeling confused and ashamed for breaking one of the dorm rules. Riddle orders the entire Heartslabyul dorm students present and Cater reveals a cage filled with a bunch of hedgehogs. Riddle orders Ace and Deuce to sing the crocodile song to the hedgehogs, leading Ace to unintentionally offend and anger Riddle by questioning him about their punishment. Cater and Trey suggest that they stand up and sing if they want their collars removed. Ace and Deuce begin to sing, a bit awkwardly, and Riddle perks up. He's glad they learned their lesson for breaking the Queen of Hearts' rules and removes their collars. However, he orders Ace and Deuce to write a 5,000-word essay for disobeyed the rules and expects them to submit it by tomorrow evening. He gives Ace and Deuce a word of advice, they will do well to learn that swiftly if they don't wish to lose their head again, move forward, and upholds the Heartslabyul name.

Afterward, Yuuken and Grim deliver the magestone to Crowley and informs him about the faceless monster that came out of nowhere in the Dwarf mines. Crowley was filled with overwhelming emotion about Yuuken and the others being able to come together like this, and he decides to make Yuuken a beast tamer due to his ability to command students to work together. Crowley decides Ace and Deuce no longer face expulsion and grants Yuuken permission to attend Night Raven College as a student. Grim is shocked, and Crowley goes on to explain that because Yuuken can't use magic, and there's no way for him to become a magician and learn from lessons, Yuuken and Grim will enroll at Night Raven College as one student. Grim is overwhelmed with joy and Yuuken pats Grim on the head while congratulating him. Crowley grants Grim a magic gem, since he is a monster and unable to hold a magic pen, he customized this for him instead. As they prepare to leave, Grim attempts to use his magic until Yuuken grabs him and reminds him about what happened yesterday at the ceremony. Crowley asks Yuuken to keep an eye on Grim since he is still new to human society and supervise him to prevent further disturbance. Yuuken agrees, and the chapter ends with Grim screaming in delight about his glorious days as a student are finally about to begin.

Differences Between Manga and Game

• Grim attempts to steal the magestone from Yuuken which never occurred in the game.
• In the game, Ace and Deuce comment about Grim eating the black stone, but in the manga, Yuuken uses most of Ace and Deuce's lines based from "Tenacious Chase!" before and after Grim ate the black stone.
• Grim describing the taste of the black stone never occurred in the game.
• Ace and Deuce's reaction after Grim ate the black stone is cut due to them being forcibly dragged backed to their dorm from last chapter.
• Crowley arrives at the Hall of Mirror with paperwork for Ace and Deuce's expulsion he was planning to give to Ace and Deuce was cut.
• A new scene is added where Riddle precedes Ace and Deuce's punishment by having them sing to the bunch of hedgehog at court along with other unnamed Heartlabyul members.
• In the game, the Heartlabyul dorm members have card motifs on their face, but in the comic they lack it.
• Ace and Deuce are unaware of Yuuken and Grim having to enroll at Night Raven College as a single student due to them being forcefully drag back to their dorm from the previous chapter.

• The crocodile song used to sing the bunches of hedgehogs is a reference to How Doth the Little Crocodile poem from 1865 novel, Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
