The chapter begins with Jade coming into Azul's office to inform him that he received a call from a client. They wish to speak with them at the lounge. Azul expresses interest and decides that they should give them a "special welcome", and looks forward to hearing their wish.

Meanwhile, a student named Yuuta Mito has a vision based on "The Little Mermaid". He comments on the awful storm taking place when a young mermaid named Ariel saves a human man, Eric, from the storm and swam him to shore. Wanting to learn more about humans, she dreams of one day living on the surface. Unknown to Ariel, a pair of eels spy on her.

The following morning, Yuuta woke up early and begins cooking breakfast, preparing some chashu bao and tea. Before finishing, he hears Grim from their bedroom. Yuuta greets Grim, who is presumably studying for finals. Yuuta offers Grim the bao and tells him not to skip breakfast, but Grim is in such a hurry that he grabs the bao and crams it into his mouth. He prepares to run off until Yuuta grabs his tail and scolds him. A meal should be eaten peacefully. He forces Grim to sit down eat.

Yuuta recalls his past three months ago before he arrived at Twisted Wonderland where he was a food delivery for his father’s restaurant in his original world. One day while delivering food, he crashed into a black carriage. By the time he regained consciousness, he was already transported to another world called Twisted Wonderland. Confused and covered in the spilled food.

In the present, after Grim finishes his meal, he and Yuuta go to class for their final exams and meet up with Ace and Deuce. Yuuta recalls how Ace and Deuce never left his or Grim's side after they got to know each other. They especially came together during the fights against Overblot Riddle and Leona. The guys feel confident about their exams when they unexpectedly encounter their teacher Crewel, who reminds them to get to class.

The four guys work very hard during the exams, and once they finish Grim and Yuuta decide to eat lunch in class. Ace is frustrated with Grim for stealing his snack, which he doesn't deny, causing Ace to chase after him. Ace and Grim prepare to do battle using their magic, when they suddenly stop and decide to let it slide. They don't want to get into trouble with the teachers. Yuuta seems curious about this, but he decides to share his food with Ace.

Several days later, they get their exam results. Ace, Deuce and Grim scored average on their exams. Crewell noticed something strange about how many students got good grades after studying so hard. Grim, Ace and Deuce became uneasy for some reason. Later, Yuuta and the others went to the hallway where all student's grades were posted. Ace, Deuce and Grim look at their ranks to see that they failed to make it within the top 5. Yuuta congratulates them for passing, but they panic and he expresses confusion. When the trio remark on their failure to make it into the top 5 and how it wasn't part of the deal, they realize that they made contracts with a particular person to pass their exams.

Suddenly, the trio sprout sea anemones on the top of their heads. Ace, Deuce and Grim react in horror and start arguing with each other, then Grim attempts to pull his off. He releases it realizing it's not working, and Yuuta realizes what is going on he spots several other students with sea anemone on their heads. Jack appears among the few students without a sea anemone, and he explains that he takes his studies seriously and never cheats. Just then, every student with a sea anemone is forcibly pulled in a direction by their heads, and Yuuta suggests that he and Jack trail after them to see where they go. Jack refuses since he's uninterested, but Yuuta teases him by suggesting he must be a chicken then, causing him to reconsider. Jack claims he will come, but only on the condition that he is curious.

Meanwhile, Azul and the Leech twins meet up with his client. Azul asks him why he didn't attend yesterday's appointment. The student claims that he was dealing with a stomach bug, but Azul sees right through it and warns him about lying. He requests Jade to mildly-push his client to be more open with them. Jade uses his Unique Magic, "Shock the Heart," on the other boy by forcing him to look into his eye, then he asks why he didn't respond to Azul's summons yesterday. The boy brazenly states that he's had it up to here with being a pawn in Azul's schemes and used being sick as an excuse. Suddenly, the student regains his senses and is surprised, realizing what he just said. He tries to apologize but Azul tells him that it's too late for take-backs. He summons Floyd over and lets him rough the other boy up by squeezing him, much to the client's horror. As this is going on, Azul complains that slackers aren't willing to do work, but they know how to avoid paying their debts. It's then Jade informs Azul that a large quantity of students failed to reach the top 5 in the exams, and they have arrived to the lounge. The chapter ends with Azul preparing to meet with them.

Differences Between Manga and Game

Malleus Line.png WARNING! This section contains story spoilers. Read at your own risk.
  • The mention of the aftermath of the Magical Shift Tournament was cut.
  • Yuuta's first vision from "The Little Mermaid" took the form of illustrated portraits instead of old film scenes like in the game.
  • In the game, Yuu notices Grim studying after waking up from their sleep, but in the manga, Yuuta notices Grim studying after his breakfast was interrupted.
  • Like Yuuken and Yuuka, Yuuta's pre-Twisted Wonderland life is briefly explored.
    • Yuuta was transported to Night Raven College in his school uniform, while it was implied that Yuu was wearing a ceremonial robe upon arrival.
    • Like Yuuka, Yuuta narrates Heartslabyul and Savanaclaw arcs from his perspective. Riddle and Leona in their Overblot forms make cameo appearances.
  • All characters appear in the flashback during Yuuta’s recap since he arrived at Night Raven College.
  • An original scene where Yuuta made Grim and himself a meal before they leave to attend their class is added.
    • They are also seen eating in class after exams are done.
  • Yuuta, Grim, Ace and Deuce unexpectedly encounter Crewel in the hall before they get to his class, this did not occur in the game.
  • Ace, Deuce and Grim's exam ranks were fully shown in the manga. Ace was ranked 68, Deuce was ranked 88, and Grim was ranked 108.
  • Azul meeting the client who skipped his appointment occurs after the test results were posted, but in the game it happened after the test.
    • The unnamed Octavinelle student with dark skin and blond hair's face was fully shown. While in the game, he has an eye-less portrait like other background students.
  • In the game, Jade looks the client in the eye when he uses his Unique Magic. In the manga, he forcefully grabs the client's face and forces him to look him in the eye for a while using his Unique Magic.
    • In the manga, when Jade uses his Unique Magic, his left eye has a hypnotic pattern, unlike in the game.
  • The scene where Floyd is about to squeeze the unnamed client is not shown, but a loud sound is heard.

Trivia

  • Unlike Episode of Heartslabyul, Yuuken does not appear in this manga. This introduced a completely new Yuu named Yuuta Mito with a different backstory.
  • Due to the fact Episode of Savanaclaw is still ongoing and has not yet finished, the chapter contains some spoilers.
