The chapter starts off with Riddle continuing to narrate his childhood past. According to Riddle, playing with Trey ad Chenya was so much. They taught him things he didn't know, and games he hadn't played. The games he learned from them were playing cards, climbing up a tree, and croquet. Riddle says they both taught him a great deal. Afterward, young Riddle would slip out of his room every day and hang out with Trey and Chenya. The only time Riddle hung out with them was during his one hour of independent study time without notifying his mother. Somewhere in a park, Riddle told Trey and Chenya that he never tried a strawberry tart because his mother says they're bad for his health before leaving them a bit surprised. Trey suggests Riddle come to his family's place to try one before revealing his family's cake shop, the one Riddle had seen the other day. Riddle became hesitated again to go with them as he does not want to make his mother angry. Trey reassures Riddle that having one slice can't hurt. To Chenya, if he had one, he would scarf down a whole tart. They took Riddle to Trey's place.

As young Riddle finally enters a bakery for the first time, he feels awe and bewilderment at the look of many sweets. Riddle gets slightly startled by Trey's parents, who politely greet him. Trey leads Riddle to his house so he can wait with Chenya. As Riddle waits, he heard Trey's younger siblings talking Trey who wants a tart too, Trey asks them to return to their room and promises to cut some later. After he short chat with his younger siblings, Trey gave Riddle a slice of strawberry tart. According to Riddle, he thinks of the strawberry tart as sparkled brighter than any jewel ever could. When he took his first bite, his eyes sparkle with joy as he described his first bite as sweet and delicious, like nothing he'd ever tasted before. with every bite, he becomes more and more entranced. Riddle's happiness falls apart as he lost track of time and his mother discovered he skipped his lessons.

Young Riddle gets scolded by his mother for abandoning his study time and believes the two kids he hangs out with led him astray. Unknown to Riddle, Chenya, and Trey watch Riddle's conversation with his mother from afar at his house. Riddle's mother punished him by forbidding him from hanging out with those children again and calling them terrible influences leaving Riddle in horror. Riddle grabs his mother's arm, and he begged his mother he tries to apologize for his actions and promises it won't happen again. Riddle's mother coldly removes Riddle's hand as she refuses to believe him as he broke the rules and he has to pay for it. As Riddle's mother closes the window, she coldly tells Riddle that from now on, she will keep a much closer eye on him. After Riddle broke the rules, his free time becomes shorter. Riddle watches helplessly as he watches his newfound friends leave him as they stop visiting him which results in breaking his ties with them. This is the reason Riddle vows to never again break his mother's rules. He spends his remaining childhood studying non-stop with his mother's lessons. It makes Riddle blindly believes his mother is always right with her decisions. He wonders why his chest is still as much when he asks his mother in his inner thoughts. He continues to express his true desire to eat a lot of tarts only for his birthday, playing outside all day long and making a lot of friends.

The next scene shift from young Riddle studying a mountain of books to his Overblot self in a dark place. He continues to ask his mother what rule should he follow to get rid of his pain. Overblot Riddle trips on one of the books and fell as a bunch of books fall on top of him. He struggles to get up as he reaches the Doorknob which reveals a keyhole. Suddenly, his blot melts away as he desperately reaches the light. Riddle's flashback and dream ended when he heard Trey's voice calling to him. When Riddle finally regains consciously, he confusing sees everyone including Yuuken, Grim, and Crowley at his side. Riddle turns around to see Trey, who responds back to him, he holds Trey's hand unconsciously.
