A flashback from Heartsabyul arc where an unseen student (presumably Yuu) accidentally steps on Leona's tail. Leona woke up in a bad mood after he had a nice dream.

In the present time, in the middle of the night at Savanaclaw dorm where Leona sits by his room looking at the moon while playing chess by himself. Ruggie approaches him and Leona asks him how was the plan coming along. Ruggie positively replies everything is going to plan. Leona talks about Malleus who hopes he better be prepared for this.

Meanwhile, in the middle of the night, Yuu's appearance isn't shown but has another strange dream, but this time it was based on The Lion King. The first vision shows the lion couple, Mufasa and Saraki witnessing their son Simba being born and title as the circle of life by Rafiki. Yuu comments they can hear the wind before recognizing that place called Savanah in their inner thoughts.

The next morning, Yuu woke up from their dreams a while Grim, who was still asleep dreaming of beating Riddle. They realize they are late to class and wake up Grim. A half-sleepy Grim asks Yuu where's Riddle, Yuu has no idea what's he talking about. The next scene reveals a completely different Yuu a woman named Yuuka Hurasaka, who is getting ready for class.

Yuuka recalls a month ago back in her original world where she won her judo match against her rival school at the Kanto High School Judo championship. After she departs her teammates, she spotted a stray cat getting wet from the rain. She tries to shield it with her umbrella, but the cat ran away. She continues to catch after it until she was hit by a black carriage. That was the last thing she remember since her memory went blank. After she regains consciousness, she wakes up in a coffin where she meets Grim. She realizes she's longer in Japan where she lived, but in another world called Twisted Wonderland. She also recalls the legendary figures called the Great Seven and the dorms. She currently lives in an abandoned dorm called "Ramshackle dorm" because she wasn't qualified to be a mage. She has no idea how to return to her original world and nowhere to go, the headmaster provided this old building that used to be a dormitory. She also recalls Crowley's words, "in exchange for a special exception, she has to do few jobs around campus with Grim".

In the present, Yuuka blankly watches Grim sleeping class again, who refuses to pay attention in class. Ace woke Grim up by throwing a paper ball at him. After a while Ace teases Grim for sleeping in class, Deuce tells both of them to knock it off. Yuuken explains in her inner thoughts that Ace and Deuce are her friends from Heartslabyul shortly after they enrolled, they helped her resolve a certain incident. Before Grim goes back to sleep, he reminds Yuuka to wake him up when the class's over, Lucius interrupts him and squeezes Grim's nose except with his claw sticking out.

After class, everyone goes to the cafeteria to pick up their food for lunch. Grim starts cutting in line to achieve a limited-time meal, the deluxe minced meat cutlet sandwich. Yuuka restrains Grim for rude behavior followed by Deuce apologizing to everyone for Grim's actions. Ruggie, who arrives too late, was bummed out that the sandwich Leona wants has been sold out. He spotted Grim who has the last deluxe meat sandwich in his paws. Ruggie casually asks Grim if he can have that sandwich he has, but Grim refuses since he has no idea who he is. He does not give his name, but only explains he’s a guy who desperately wants the sandwich that Grim has since it been sold out by the time he got there. Ruggie decides to offer a trade for his mini red bean paste for Grim’s deluxe sandwich, but Grim still refuses to give it up. Suddenly Grim’s hands start moving on his own and trade them for Ruggie’s food. As Ruggie thanks Grim for the trade, he reinsures him that the mini red bean pastes are good, but Grim is too focused on seeing his deluxe sandwich taken away. During lunch, Deuce was a bit surprised that Grim was willing to trade his food with someone, Grim denies it since he didn’t give away food willing, and his paws starts moving on their own just like Ruggie’s movement as soon he put his hand out, and it was over before he knew it. Ace jokingly misunderstood and thinks Grim did it by going with the flow. Still upset, Grim attempts to steal Deuce’s paste as another way to eat his feeling. Yuuka wonders to herself where she has seen the “animal-eared friend” before.

At the Botanical Garden, Ruggie announced to Leona that he got his lunch. Leona, who woke up from a nap, asks him if it's already noon. Ruggie questioned Leona if he's been asleep the entire time before warning him that he was going to funk his core class at this rate. Leona smells the food he asked for. When Ruggie complains to Leona that he always wants to get popular items on the menu, Leona explains the reason why he wants to get it when something's hard to get, it makes him want it all the more. Ruggie tells him that he will eat everything as long it's not mold. When Ruggie tells Leona good luck getting to the king if he's a second son, Ruggie mentions he might as well be a commoner. He recalls the time he shows a photo of his family's house and Leona rudely comments on how it looks like a dog house. He talks about how he loves to try to live in a castle just long enough to warp his perspective like that. Leona reinsures Ruggie that the royal life's not all it's cracked up to be. According to Leona, no matter how talented they are or how hard they work, their lot in life is already decided. It was by the order in which they were born. Before Ruggie leaves for his next class, he reminds Leona of the dorm leader meeting. Leona complains before Ruggie criticizes him since he gets the biggest room as dorm leader, so at least do that much and earn his keep. Leona decides to take a nap now he's full and tells him to wake him up when lunch break's over much to Ruggie's annoyance towards him. After Leona fell asleep as Ruggie reminds him he was not his alarm clock. In Ruggie's inner thoughts, he had a feeling he met Yuuka and Grim someplace else before.

At the Headmaster's office where Crowley summons Ace, Deuce, Grim, and Yuuka at his office to inform them about one specific reason to discuss the incident that happened the other day with Riddle Rosehearts. Yuuka narrates Heartslabyul arc from her perspective about Riddle's overblotting as a result of his dorm members turning against him. After the recap ends, Ace briefly mentions his older brother a little info about overblotting. Grim asks the Headmaster about "all this blots stuff. Crowley explains in a simple term that Yuuka and Grim can understand about overblots. He says blot is a sort of waste produced as a by-product as one uses magic. He gives an example of automobiles that use fuel to run and emit fumes in the process. Spells consume magical energy while simultaneously expelling blot. Blot is a concept that's been studied since time immemorial. It is extremely toxic when accumulated in excess, and can do grave damage to a mage's mind and body. Grim panicked that if they uses overuse magic, they will get worse. Crowley decides to do a demonstration that would combat be more useful than words, asking Ace, Deuce, and Grim to fight the Ramshackle ghost as a practice battle.

After Ace, Deuce, and Grim defeat the ghosts with their magic, Grim, Ace, and Deuce notice a black inky spot on their magic gems. Crowley explains those are known as "blot" the product of magic. When Yuuka asks if this is permanent, Crowley replies it's not, with proper rest and recovery, the blots will vanish from their gems all on their own. Crowley explains magic gems aren't only meant to help them perform spells. It redirects the blots and to a certain extent, prevents them from accumulating in the user. Grim feels relieved that he doesn't have to worry about it. However, Crowley wasn't done explaining, as he states that an individual's quantity of magic power varies greatly, and there's little variance in most mages' tolerance for blot. Those who possess a greater capacity for magic ought to be much more careful about how many blots they mass. Grim fears if their gem goes black, they might end up like Riddle and the giant shadow is said to be the avatar of an amalgamation of blot and negative energy. The trigger for blots is negative emotions such as anger, sadness, fear, and panic, which was called "overblot". There is a considerable level of risk involved when using strong magic and tells them not to forget.

Crowley dismissed them after he was done teaching Ace, Deuce, Grim, and Yuuka and requested them to go back to their classrooms since he is going to be busy for the upcoming October interdorm magical shift tournament. Yuuka and Grim react in confusion as they have no idea what the magical shift tournament. Ace and Deuce are surprised at how they don't know about the tournament, so they explain to them that a magical shift, in short term, "Magift", is a sport played by competing teams of seven people. Players score points by battling over a disc and then firing it into the enemy team's goal. Whoever scores the most points wins. Yuuka comments it's like American football for a while Grim gets excited about the game. Ace is concerned about Yuuka and Grim that it might be difficult for them to take part in the tournament with only the two of them. Deuce explains they need magic to play magical shift which includes moving the disc, attacking, defending, and all of its uses of magic. Deuce adds that Night Raven College is world-renowned as one of the strongest competitors out there since it is not only from pro-league officials but mages all over the world. Ace claims that stand-out players get popular as a result and it's one of their biggest events that was captured on television cameras and broadcast worldwide. Both Grim and Yuuka become interested in the tournament especially Grim, who wants to get attention from everyone worldwide by entering the tournament. Ace cut Grim off and continues to explain about the tournament that only seven members on a team can enter. However, Grim and Yuuka can't enter the tournament because their dorm lacks six members leaving Grim greatly disappointed. Ace and Deuce tell Grim to give up this year and reinsure him that maybe next year Ramshackle dorm will have enough students next year to form a team. However, their words do not cheer up Grim.

At the dorm leaders' meeting where all of them gather to discuss the upcoming tournament (except Malleus). During their discussion, Crowley proposes to all of the dorm leaders that starting with the tournament, he'd like Diasomnia dorm leader Malleus Draconia to be inducted into the hall of fame, thus removing him from the field altogether. Everyone had mixed reactions to this. When Leona questioned Crowley, he says since Malleus never lose any matches, he should be inducted into the hall of fame, meaning he will be removed from the field. According to Crowley, Malleus had scored alone by netting 90% of the goals. Idia comments Malleus' skills like a cheat code character that totally broke the game. Crowley continues as he explains spectators all over the world will be watching to see what new talented mages will emerge. The matches against Diasomnia have ended without allowing anyone else-not even his own dorm mates to display even a trace of magic. In the well-known dorm, Savanaclaw, many students aspire to play in the Spelldrive pro league. They've been a top competitor since the school was founded. However, the Savanaclaw lost to Diasomnia dorm for two years and the opening game has always been against Diasomnia dorm always results in immediate elimination. Leona rejects Crowley proposition to remove Malleus from the game. He says there's no one can best Malleus when it comes to power, but Spelldrive isn't just a game of brute strength, it's about using their brains. Kalim vouch for Leona since he couldn't use his wits to beat Malleus. He states the King of Beast of the Great Seven took his place as king through persistence and wit. He later tells the dorm leaders to use their brains and come up with a way to beat that monster.

Meanwhile in the hallway where two unnamed students from Heartslabyul talk about the upcoming Spelldrive Tournament unaware someone was stalking them. Suddenly one of them fell down the stairs and broken a limb. The unnamed student's friend decides to take him to the nurse. The chapter ends with one of the unseen culprits having their magic gem corrupt with a single drop of blots.
