A flashback during the Heartsabyul arc takes place, where an unseen student (presumably Yuu) accidentally steps on Leona's tail while he was asleep. He woke up in a bad mood and complains that he was having a nice dream.
Presently, in the middle of the night at Savanaclaw, Leona sits by the window to observe the moon as he plays chess by himself. Ruggie approaches and Leona asks him how the plan is coming along. Ruggie positively replies everything is going according to plan. Leona talks about Malleus, and hopes that he is prepared for what is to come.
As this is going on, Yuu is having another strange dream. They see the lion couple, Mufasa and Saraki witness the birth of their son, Sima, and receive his title as the circle of life by Rafiki. Yuu comments that they can hear the wind. They recognize this location, a place called the Savanah.
The next morning, Yuu woke up while Grim, still asleep dreams that he is beating Riddle. Yuu realizes they're going to be late for class and wake Grim up. He sleepily asks Yuu where Riddle is, and Yuu is perplexed, having no idea what he's talking about. The next scene reveals that this Yuu is a girl named Yuuka Hurasaka, as she gets ready for class.
Yuuka recalls a month ago back in her original world where she won her judo match against her rival school at the Kanto High School Judo championship. After departing from her teammates, she spotted a stray cat getting wet from the rain. She attempted to shield it with her umbrella but it ran away, so she ran after it, leading her to be hit by a black carriage. That was the last thing she remembers, the rest of her memory went blank. After she regained consciousness, she woke up in a coffin and met Grim. She realized that she isn't in Japan anymore, but in another world called Twisted Wonderland. She also recalls the legendary figures called the Great Seven and the dorms. She currently lives in an abandoned dorm called "Ramshackle dorm" because she wasn't qualified to be a mage. She had no idea how to return to her original world and nowhere to go, so the headmaster provided this old building that used to be a dormitory. She also recalls Crowley's words, "in exchange for a special exception, she has to do few jobs around campus with Grim".
During class, Yuuka blankly watches Grim sleep. Ace woke Grim up by throwing a paper ball at him, and he starts teasing him until Deuce tells them to both knock it off. Yuuka thinks about how she befriended Ace and Deuce shortly after enrollment. They helped her resolve a certain incident. Before Grim goes back to sleep, he reminds Yuuka to wake him up when class is over, only for Lucius to interrupt and squeeze Grim's nose to keep him awake.
After class, everyone goes to the cafeteria for lunch. Grim cuts in line to get his paws on a limited-time meal, the deluxe minced meat cutlet sandwich. Yuuka restrains Grim for rude behavior and Deuce apologizes for Grim's actions. Ruggie, who arrives too late, was bummed out that the sandwich Leona wants has been sold out, until he realizes Grim has one. Ruggie casually asks Grim if he can have that sandwich but Grim refuses, since he has no idea who he is. Ruggie introduces himself as a guy who desperately wants the sandwich that Grim has since it was sold out by the time he got there. He offer a trade in the form of a mini red bean paste bun for Grim’s deluxe sandwich, but Grim still refuses to give it up. Suddenly, Grim’s paws begin to move on their own, and they make the trade after all. Ruggie thanks Grim and assures him that what he got is good too, but Grim is too focused on seeing his deluxe sandwich taken away. As everyone begins to eat Deuce expresses surprise that Grim was willing to trade his food like that. Grim denies it, because he wouldn't willingly give food away like that. His paws starts moving on their own as Ruggie held out his hand, and it was over before he knew it. Ace jokingly misunderstands and thinks Grim did it by going with the flow. Still upset, Grim attempts to steal Deuce’s food as another way to eat his feeling. Yuuka wonders where it was that she's seen their “animal-eared friend” before.
At the Botanical Garden, Ruggie announces to the sleeping Leona that he got his lunch. Leona wakes up to ask him if it's already noon, and Ruggie asks if he slept this entire time before warning him that he's going to flunk class at this rate. Leona smells the food he asked for and Ruggie complains, asking why he always has to get the popular menu items. Leona explains that he wants it because its hard to get, it's more worth getting. Ruggie tells him that he eats anything as long as its not moldy. Ruggie remarks on the difficulty he would have becoming King as the second born son, he may as well be a commoner. He recalls the time he was shown a photo of his family's house, leading Leona to rudely remark that it looked like a dog house. He would love to try to live in a castle just long enough to warp his perspective like that. Leona assures Ruggie that the royal life's not all it's cracked up to be. No matter how talented they are or how hard they work, their lot in life is already decided. It was by the order in which they were born.
Before Ruggie leaves for his next class, he reminds Leona of the dorm leader meeting. Leona complains and Ruggie critisizes him, saying that as the dorm leader he gets the biggest room there. The least he could do is earn his keep. Leona decides to take a nap now that he's eaten, and tells Ruggie to wake him up after lunch ends. Ruggie expresses annoyance and after Leona drifts off to sleep, he reminds him that he isn't his alarm clock. Ruggie then begins to think about Grim and Yuuka, who he feels like he's met before.
At the Headmaster's office, Crowley summons Ace, Deuce, Grim and Yuuka at his office to discuss the incident that happened the other day with Riddle Rosehearts. Yuuka narrates the Heartslabyul arc from her perspective about Riddle's overblot as a result of his dorm members turning against him. After, Ace brings up that he got a little information about overblotting from his older brother. Grim asks the Headmaster about all this blot stuff, and Crowley offers a simplified explanation to help him and Yuuka grasp the meaning. Blot is a sort of waste produced as a by-product as one uses magic; its comparable to the fumes that automobiles give out due to using fuel. Spells consume magical energy while simultaneously expelling blot. Blot is a concept that's been studied since time immemorial. It is extremely toxic when accumulated in excess, and can do grave damage to a mage's mind and body. Grim panics hearing this, realizing that if they overuse magic, they will get worse. Crowley decides to do a demonstration, believing that combat could get the point across easier. He asks Deuce, Ace and Grim to fight the Ramshackle ghost as a practice battle.
Afterwards, the trio notice black, ink-like spots on their magic gems. Crowley points out that this is "blot". Yuuka asks if this is permanent and Crowley replies that it isn't. With proper rest and recovery, the blot vanishes. Magic gems are just there for the intention of helping a mage perform spells, it redirects blot and to a certain extent, prevents it from accumulating in the user. Grim feels relieved that he doesn't have to worry about it. However, Crowley wasn't done explaining, as he states that an individual's quantity of magic power varies greatly, and there's little variance in most mages' tolerance for blot. Those who possess a greater capacity for magic ought to be much more careful about how much blot they gather. Grim fears if their gem goes black, they might end up like Riddle. Crowley recalls the giant shadow he had, and explains it as an avatar representing the amalgamation of blot and negative energy. The trigger for blot is negative emotions, such as anger, sadness, fear and panic. There is a considerable level of risk involved when using strong magic and tells them not to forget that.
Crowley dismisses the students and suggests they return to class, as he has to get to work for the upcoming October interdorm magical shift tournament. Yuuka and Grim react in confusion as neither of them have heard of this yet. Ace and Deuce are surprised since they didn't know about the tournament, and they explain what Magical Shift is to them. In short term, "Magift", is a sport played by competing teams of seven people. Players score points by battling over a disc and then firing it into the enemy team's goal. Whoever scores the most points wins. Yuuka compares it to American football and Grim becomes excited. Ace is concerned about Yuuka and Grim, as it may be difficult for them to participate in the tournament with only two people. Deuce explains that Magical Shift is played using magic, and he mentions that Night Raven College is world-renowned as one of the strongest competitors out there, and Ace claims that stand-out players get popular. It's one of their biggest events there, and its all captured on television and broadcast worldwide. Both Grim and Yuuka become interested in the tournament, especially Grim, who wants to receive attention from everyone. Ace cut Grim off and continues to remind him that only a team of seven can enter- and Ramshackle is short six members, so they can't enter. Grim is greatly disappointed as the guys convince him to give up on it for now. They assure him that maybe next year he can get a chance to play. He doesn't feel any better though.
A meeting is held between the dorm leaders to discuss the upcoming tournament- except for Malleus. Crowley proposes that they induct Malleus into the hall of fame, thus removing him from the field altogether. Everyone had mixed reactions to this, leading Leona to question Crowley's decision. Crowley explains that Malleus has never lost, in fact he's net 90% of the goals. Idia comments that Malleus' skills are like a cheat code character that totally breaks the game. Crowley continues to express that spectators all over the world will be watching to see what new talented mages will emerge, and the matches against Diasomnia have ended without allowing anyone else get a chance to display their magi. In the well-known dorm, Savanaclaw, many students aspire to play in the Spelldrive pro-league. They've been a top competitor since the school was founded. However, Savanaclaw lost to Diasomnia two years in a row, and they always go against them in the opening match and it results in an immediate elimination. Leona rejects Crowley proposition to remove Malleus from the game. He says there's no one can best Malleus when it comes to power, but Spelldrive isn't just a game of brute strength, it's about using their brain. Kalim vouches for Leona, since he couldn't use his wits to beat Malleus. He states the King of Beast of the Great Seven took his place as king through persistence and wit. He later tells the dorm leaders to use their brains and come up with a way to beat that monster.
Meanwhile, in the hallway are two unnamed students from Heartslabyul talking about the upcoming Spelldrive Tournament unaware someone is following them. Suddenly one of them falls down the stairs, and he gets hurt. His friend quickly leads him to the nurses office. The chapter ends with the unseen culprit's magic gem gain a drop of blot.

WARNING! This section contains story spoilers. Read at your own risk. |
- There is a flashback revealing that Yuuka and Leona have met at least once prior to the events of the manga.
- Leona and Ruggie's plot against Malleus took place at night instead of during the day.
- The mention of Heartslabyul un-birthday party was cut.
- Yuuka's first vision from "The Lion King" took the form of illustrated portraits instead of old film scenes like in the game.
- Yuuka is given additional lines when she experiences the first vision. In the game, Yuu only has one line.
- Yuuka recognizes the place in which her dream took place.
- Like Yuuken, Yuuka's pre-Twisted Wonderland life is briefly explored.
- Yuuka was transported to Night Raven College in her gym uniform, while it was implied that Yuu was wearing a ceremonial robe upon arrival.
- All characters appear in the flashback when Yuuka’s recap since she arrived at Night Raven College.
- In the game, Grim mentions Trein's class in the cafeteria, but in the manga, Trein's class is shown briefly instead.
- No magic battle between students is shown.

- A flashback was shown where Leona and his dorm members lose the Spelldrive competition to Diasomnia last year. This didn't occur in the game.
- Malleus, Lilia and Silver’s silhouettes can be seen.
- In the game, the one who fell down the stairs had dark skin with dirty blond hair and was a student from Heartslabyul. The student in the manga looks different.
- At the end of the chapter, it makes it ambiguous as to whose gem gained blot.
Trivia
- This chapter confirms it is not connected to the previous manga "Episode of Heartslabyul", as Yuuken is replaced with a female version of Yuu and a different backstory.
- There are some continuity errors within this chapter:
- On page 61, Leona’s braids are missing when he mentions the King of Beasts’ good deeds. The next page, he is seen with them again. This was fixed in the final release of Volume 1.
