It’s been decided that the Mountain Lovers’ Club will be joining the Pop Music Club. Everyone, thank you for accepting me here.

So, the three of us from the pop music club are gonna team up with Jade, who’s the only member of his mountain lovers’ club, huh~
|
Cater
Cater
|
Yeah, yeah. Since there’s only four of us, I’m kinda worried about how we’ll actually survive.
|
Lilia
Lilia

Quite. If we don’t put our all into it, we’ll fall behind the other teams.

Jade

I agree. I will also my utmost to the best of my ability.
First, we are to set up the tents, yes? Then, let’s quickly start the task.

…Alright. I’ve finished setting up the tents for everyone.

SO FAST!?

Thanks to Jade’s help, all four tents went up in no time flat!

I’m rather used to camping, after all. I’m elated that I could be of assistance.

This is really helpful. I was worried, because the pop music club didn’t have many members.
And it seems like Kalim and Cater are both novices when it comes to camping in the wilderness…
I do know survival skills, but I was pondering just how to explain it to them
Mayhaps it was a considerate nod from Vargas that he added a skilled camper like Jade to the pop music club group.

It’s amazing that you were chosen as one of the best campers and got that campwear, Jade-kun!

Oh, and come to think of it… Camping is so in right now~
Hey, Jade-kun! Can you teach me some how-to’s of camping?
Since your Cay-kun here’s always so tuned into the current crazes, thought maybe I could use this opportunity to debut as a camper!
|
Jade
Jade
|
Well, of course. I would absolutely be delighted to. This may be a superb opportunity for you to learn to comprehend the absolute splendor of the mountains.
So then, first, let us start a fire.
|
Cater
Cater
|
Got it! We don’t have any matches, lighters, or fire starters, but we do have flint ♪
Seems like the sports clubs didn’t even get any flint when they came out here. Apparently, they had to use stones and other tools. Poor them~
|
Jade
Jade
|
Oh my, is that so? I don’t use flint or any kind of tool, let alone fire starters. I do it like this…
|
Everyone
|
YOU’RE RUBBING A WOODEN STICK AGAINST A BOARD!?!
|
Cater
Cater
|
Isn’t that just a little too primitive!?
|
Jade
Jade
|
Fufu, it is much more exciting the more effort it takes to start the fire.
The method I am using here to start the fire is called the hand drill method.
If you spin the stick vigorously back and forth in between your palms and press down against the board to create friction, then…
|
(spin, spin, spin… flame starts)
|
Jade
Jade
|
The flame will light.
|
Everyone
|
THAT WAS SO FAST!!??
|
Jade
Jade
|
When we wrap the charcoal we made from the friction with some straw or dead grass and blow into it… The flame will grow like this.
We use that flame to burn a piece of wood, called fatwood, covered in resin… And the campfire will be completed.
|
|

Here we go, done.

W-Wow, Jade-kun! If we took a video of this and uploaded it, it’d totally go viral!

As someone who loves the mountains so, it’s only natural for me to be able to easily do something like this.
Although the campfire has already been made, why don’t you try your hand at starting a fire as well, Cater-san?

Yeah! Kinda looked easy, too!

Methinks that method of starting a fire might be a little too difficult for a newbie. We do have the next task we need to get to as well.

You’re absolutely right. Then, let us make our way to the lake to secure food.

Indeed. And while we’re there, we’ll also collect drinking water.

Eh!? I thought they gave us bottled water…
|
Jade
Jade

That’s true. However, don’t you think drinking water from nature is much more flavorful?
Even lake water can be potable if it is filtered through charcoal, stone, or sand and then is boiled to disinfect it.

I-Is that so…

As a merman myself, I’m quite capable of drinking murky water, but clean water definitely tastes much better.
