Happy New Year and Happy Birthday to me!!
I can’t believe I get to usher in such a lively day. I guess it’s not too bad of an idea to randomly choose a birthdate.
|
???
|
Randomly choose a birthdate…?

Oh, sounds like my Presenter has arrived. Hurry and come on in.

Sorry, I didn’t mean to eavesdrop. Lilia-senpai, what were you saying just now…?
|
Lilia

Don’t sweat the small things, Jamil. I’m looking forward to this today.

I don’t think it’s a “small thing,” but… I guess I won’t look too deeply into it. Now then, bringing us back on track…
Lilia-senpai, Happy Birthday. Here is your first question.
“Are you good or bad at flying?”
|
Lilia

Kufufu, flying through the sky is one of my specialties. Whether I like the class or not is questionable, though.

Are you saying… The school’s course is too easy that you’re bored?
|
Lilia
Lilia
|
Not at all. It’s so enjoyable to see all you youngsters try to fly with all your might like little birdlings who have just left the nest.
But y'know~ When it’s time for me to fly, that broom is just~

I see, so it’s an issue with the flying implements. Here at this school, all students have to use the brooms provided to them to maintain equality, after all.
So, what is your preferred way to fly, Lilia-senpai?
|
Lilia
Lilia
|
Great question! My preferred method is… Using just this body of mine.
|
Jamil
Jamil
|
So, in other words, you fly without using any equipment.
|
Lilia
Lilia
|
Right. They say that using a broom or a carpet makes it much easier to control your movements while flying, but…
When you get to my level, those kinds of equipment just get in the way. They also tend to get caught on tree branches, or the walls of alleyways.

Setting aside the fact that I doubt there’d ever be a chance to fly in such a narrow space… I suppose it’d be better to be as nimble as possible.
|
Lilia

Yep. I’ve traveled to many a country with this old body of mine. I’ve crossed fields, mountains and even oceans sometimes.
Yet, sometimes it’s also nice to take the train or a bus.
I wonder how many years ago it was… I had a very interesting experience once where I spent a week just taking the train everywhere.

A whole week using a train… I’m quite eager to know how you spent your time on board.
|

I slept for most of it.

You slept!? Despite it being an exciting train trip…

We were just traveling through the empty wilderness, so the outside scenery was never-ending and never changing…
And the shaking was too intense, to start with. I just couldn’t read a book or play any games anyway.
Plus, the chairs and beds were just too hard, and by the time I got off the train, my whole body was stiff.
I’ve experienced many a thing, but that was the first time that my body hurt so much from not moving around at ll.
|
Jamil
Jamil

Are you saying that that was your interesting experience?
|
Lilia
Lilia
|
That’s right!
Using wisdom and engineering, railroad tracks have been laid all across the vast land, bridges have been built to cross rivers, tunnels have been dug in large mountains…
The routes built by those pioneers can carry babes and elderly alike to far-off lands.
That was a journey that allowed me to personally experience the dedicated persistence and efforts of the humans.

There are stories of families cultivating the lands or roads for generations… If you put it that way, then I suppose there’s a sort of charm to that kind of inconvenient travel, hm?

I thought they were still laying chunks of metal all over the ground, but now people can fly so freely in the sky…
Human ingenuity is really quite fascinating.
