Childhood
Deuce used to be a delinquent in middle school but vowed to clean up his act at Night Raven after he heard his mother secretly cry in a phone call to his grandmother.[1] He most likely didn't pay attention in school, resulting in him taking a lot of time to solve simple math problems such as basic Algebra.[2] Because of his fearsome reputation in his previous school, many barely approached him. As a result, he gets easily nervous talking to women other than his mother because he doesn't know what to say.[3] Deuce's favorite hobby during these years was riding his magic wheel, which is something true until now. According to Cater, he knows how to fix machinery, such as Malleus' toy.[4] Deuce says that he picked up the skills while helping out his single mom at home.
He is an only child[5] and loves his mom very much. The entire reason he’s trying so hard to be an honors student is so that he can become a son his mom can be proud of. He once cried when she called him to tell him she was proud.[6]
The only time his grandma was mentioned was when he told a story of his mom crying to her on the phone, thinking she’d failed as a parent (during Deuce’s delinquent days).[1]
