Episode of Scarabia/Chapter 3

The third chapter of Disney Twisted Wonderland The Comic -Episode of Scarabia- and was released in the first volume of the manga. This chapter covers "A Friendly Personality", "Sailing in the Skies", and "A Late Night Surprise" (Episode 4 Chapter 8-10) from the game.

Summary

Kalim shows Yuuna and Grim around the dorm, where he brings them to the treasure room, which stores all of his family's fortunes, including the family magic flying carpet. He invites them for an enjoyable ride flying up in the night sky with his magic carpet.

Afterwards, during dinner, Kalim, with glowing red hypnotized eyes, changed his mind to let everyone go back tomorrow. At the same time, Kalim orders Yuuna and Grim to be forced to stay here instead of returning to their dorm.

After completing the defensive magic training, Kalim takes Grim and Yuuna around the dorm. He already left before Jamil reminds Kalim that he still hasn't finished today's assignments.

Yunna and Grim are mesmerized by how clean, fancy, and expensive the dorm is. Yuuna notes that it's completely different from the Ramshackle dorm. Kalim mentions that when he first enrolled, his dad said something about how he donated to the school and got the dorm refurbished, which shocked Grim by asking him if he was rich or not. Grim guessed if he was a prince like Leona, but Kalim corrected him and said that the Asims weren't royalty, which confused Yuuna and Grim. Kalim explains "Al" means "son" in the ancient language of the Scalding Sands. He said his family's last names are the name of their family's founder, and every male born in the founder's line is named as the founder's son. This makes him "Kalim, son of the house of Asim.", much of Yunna and Grim's confusion. Yuuna asks Kalim if she can call him, "Kali" for short, which he doesn't mind. He cheerfully suggests they visit his home in Scalding Sands someday. Grim guessed he must have lived in a big mansion like a palace, and Kalim mentioned his family had more than 100 servants and over 30 younger siblings. He also noted that Jamil's parents are his family's servants since Jamil has cared for him since he was little. Kalim starts to list why he admires Jamil so much, he's intelligent, considerate, and a fantastic cook.

Kalim leads Yuuna and Grim in the room filled with treasures and expensive objects, leaving them bewildered. Kalim reveals his dad sent all of this with him, but it won't fit in his dorm room so he just had it stored here. He is aimlessly searching for something he wants to show Yuuna and Grim. Grim tries to sneak out and steal some treasures, but he feels something touching his head. He pulls on his ribbon collar and mistakes it for Yuuna. When the real Yuuna shows up with a bunch of golden accessories and a crown on, from Grim's calling her, leaving Grim in a horrifyingly shocked state that he drops the jewel he was holding, later they are seen being chased by a sentient carpet. Kalim is happy to see his family carpet, who gives it a big hug in relief. He, who is already riding on his magic carpet, explains to them that it's a legendary treasure from the Scalding Sands, a magic carpet. There used to be a carpet that belonged to the kind that the Sorcerer of the Sands served under, that the king truly loved-- and this one is a replica of that one. Kalim offers Yuuna and Grim a walk in the evening sky, where they both get on the magic flying carpet with Kalim.

He took them for a joy ride out of the Scarabia to the night sky to see the clouds and stars, which impressed them enormously. When they reach higher up, they glance at the moon together. Kalim cheerfully states that a new world is on top of the clouds. To him, it's nice to soar freely through the sky, making them forget all their worries. He mentions Jamil always says that he doesn't worry about things enough. He wishes Jamil would take life a little bit easier. Grim spotted a flock of birds over that river, which he had never seen before, so Kalim led them to where the birds were flying. Kalim took out his magic pen and cast some fireworks in the night sky to lighten the mood for their flying carpet ride. Kalim returns Yuuna and Grim to the dorm, where they have a great time flying on the magic carpet. Jamil informs Kalim that he wants to confirm something with him before dinner, which Kalim cheerfully accepts. Kalim bid farewell to Yuuna and Grim and tells them to head to the lounge. Grim tells her that compared to cold and drafty Ramshackle, he finds the Scarabia dorm paradise as he considers joining Kalim's dorm due to his good nature. At the lounge, Jamil informs everyone that the dorm leader has an announcement for all students before dinner. A while, Yuuna and Grim are excited that Kalim's news about sending everyone back home for winter break, Kalim, now displays a serious face with red hypnotized eyes, decides that Scarabia would voluntarily stay on campus, for six hours of self-study every day. Still, he realized he was being too soft on them, which dumbfounded Yuuna and Grim. Jamil, who is confused like everyone else, reminds him about sending the students, and Yuuna adds that by reminding him that Scarabia will start winter break tomorrow. Kalim coldly orders the dorm to work five times harder than other dorms, if they are going to clear their names of being the last ranked dorm in school. For tomorrow, each of them will be studying for five hours, and doing four hours of special training. He adds after dinner tonight, they will be tranining in defensive magic, get eating, and then prepare themselves. He orders Yuuna and Grim to do the same treatment as his dorm members, so participation is mandatory which they were suprised by his sudden cold behavior.

The chapter ends with Yuuna and Grim being forcefully dragged by a couple of unnamed dorm members. Jamil rolls his eyes on Kalim silently. A drop of blot appears on Jamil's magic stone of his pen.

Differences Between Manga and Game

WARNING! This section contains story spoilers. Read at your own risk.

• The aftermath of defensive magic training sequence has been cut.
• When Kalim explains the magic carpet has belonged to his family for generations, a silhouette of the Sultan from "Aladdin" riding on it appears. This never occurs in the game.
• When Kalim, Yuuna, and Grim are flying on the carpet, they spread their arms as several flocks of cranes fly with them in the sky.
• In the game, it was left obscure as to whose magic was being corrupted by blot, but in the manga, it was revealed to be Jamil, foreshadowing him being the mastermind of overthrowing Kalim's position as dorm leader.

Trivia

• Yuuna and Grim experience flying on a magic carpet with Kalim, a reference to Aladdin. In disguise as a prince, they ride joyfully with Jasmine on sentient Magic Carpet during A Whole New World from Aladdin.
