Episode of Savanaclaw/Chapter 9

The ninth chapter of Disney Twisted Wonderland The Comic -Episode of Savanaclaw- was published in Monthly G Fantasy August 2024 issue on July 18th, 2024. This chapter covers "Fangs Bared" (Episode 2 Chapter 25) from the game.

Summary

Leona loses his temper and uses his Unique Magic on the others, and he tortures Ruggie by slowly turning him to sand.

The chapter starts with Leona using his Unique Magic on his dorm members after their betrayel. Ace, Deuce and Grim get caught in it and Deuce's eyes start to hurt, while Grim's nose feels dry. Jack realizes this is the full effect of Leona's Unique Magic, and everything he touches turns into sand. Leona reveals that this is his "Kings' Roar". He finds it ironic since the savanna hates nothing more than a drought, and yet the magic he was born with desiccated everything by turning it to sand. Riddle, Ace and Deuce notice how solid Leona's magical power is while trying to block it, while Lilia realizes that Leona is controlling the sand.

A few Savanaclaw dorm members try to make a run for it and Leona quickly snatches them with his Unique Magic. He sadistically proceeds to torture them by slowly turning them into the sand. Ruggie tries to stop Leona from hurting them, knowing he will be caught in Leona's Unique Magic too. Leona grabs Ruggie by the neck and begins to slowly torture him to death as cracks start forming on his skin. Riddle attempts to use his Unique Magic to cancel out Leona's but the collar bounces off. Leona casually drops Ruggie and directs his attention towards Riddle and the others, casting powerful sand magic on them to trap them, then he yanks Ruggie by the hair to force him to look at him. He mocks him, saying that he now understands that no matter how hard he tries, some things will never come true and that he should throw away those sweet dreams. Ruggie tries to respond by saying that he won't give up until the end, and Leona prepares to finish him off. Everyone reacts in horror realizing that Leona is planning to take Ruggie's life.

• Under the blot's influences, Leona seems more abusive towards Ruggie than in the game.
• Leona's Unique Magic, "Kings Roar," and the effects on his targets are fully shown.
  • The other Savanaclaw members try to escape Leona's Unique Magic, but they get caught and are slowly tortured as they turn to sand.
  • When he uses his unique magic on Ruggie, cracks start forming on his face and hand as he slowly turns into sand.
• Ruggie tries to stop Leona from hurting their dorm members, which results in getting his neck lifted by Leona as he uses his Unique Magic on him, which never occurs in the game.

Trivia

• This is the last chapter before the manga goes on a four-month hiatus.
  • However, in Monthly G Fantasy December 2024 issue on November 18th, 2024, the manga is on extended hiatus by two months. The reason for this is unknown, but the new release date for the next chapter will be next year on Monthly G Fantasy February 2025 issue instead.
